Tasteful House: A Practical and Warm Living Space

Designing for Parent-Child Interaction

The uniqueness of the Tasteful House lies in its reimagined layout, tailored to the specific needs of the homeowners. Evans Lee carefully adjusted each space, maximizing functionality and minimizing waste. The result is a home that optimizes space utilization throughout.

One notable feature of the design is the removal of the living room wall, creating a more open and spacious feel. In its place, a row of board-style bookcases adds both storage and visual interest, showcasing books and decorative objects. The black and white color scheme enhances the vibrancy of the objects on the bookshelves, while the combination of ceiling lighting creates a comfortable and inviting atmosphere.

Covering a total area of 120 square meters, the Tasteful House is a testament to thoughtful design and attention to detail. The project began in March 2020 and was completed in January 2021, both in Foshan.

Evans Lee's research and creative problem-solving skills were put to the test in this project. The original space had a traditional layout with a dim and wasteful long passage. By reconfiguring the plane structure, the designer was able to address these challenges and create a more functional and visually appealing home. Additionally, the incorporation of a multi-functional room caters to the diverse needs of the homeowners.

One of the standout features of the Tasteful House is the specially designed 2-meter long multi-purpose coffee table in the living room. Taking into account the lively and lovely nature of children, the table includes a chair fixed to one end, allowing for 360-degree rotation. This clever design encourages interaction and playfulness.

The Tasteful House seamlessly blends modern simplicity with warmth and comfort. The integration of the dining room and balcony creates an expanded visual space, while the master bedroom suite addresses practical daily needs. Custom-made potted plants on the balcony add a touch of relaxation to the space.

Evans Lee's design for the Tasteful House has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in 2021. This prestigious award celebrates designs that embody creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving quality of life. The Tasteful House stands as a testament to the power of thoughtful design in creating a harmonious and functional living environment.
